
Core Skills Training Services (RTO #46481) offers HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation with high quality course materials and premier student support that provides you with the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

How is the course delivered?
Face-to-face training and assessment sessions are conducted in Core Skills Training Services’ facility at 8 Moojebing Street Bayswater WA 6053.
Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend approximately 10 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What will you learn?
This course is designed to develop your expertise in providing first aid. Among others, you will learn to:
- Respond to an emergency situation.
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures.
- Communicate details of the incident.
- Review the incident.
How is the course structured?
All learners will be assessed through:
- Questioning – Written or Verbal
- Scenario-based assessments
- Practical skills demonstration assessments
- Observation in a simulated environment
What are the entry requirements?
There are no prerequisites required to enter this course. However, it is preferred that students:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have sound Langue, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills*
- Physical attribute requirements**

Language, literacy, and numeracy requirements are needed to undertake this course. This is assessed through Core Skills Training Services pre-enrolment LLN assessment. Specifically, students would need the ability to:
- Prepare verbal incident reports or provide information to enable the preparation of an incident report
- Communicate effectively and assertively in an incident (e.g., give a casualty handover)
- Use literacy and numeracy skills as required reading, interpret, and apply guidelines and protocols (e.g., read and follow ARC guidelines)
*Learners who do not meet the LLN requirements may still enrol into the course provided the enrolment has been endorsed by the trainer and corresponding additional support strategies have been put in place.
**Physical attributes requirements
Each of the units of competency that this strategy applies to specifies that students must, among other things, be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor, to be deemed as competent. They also must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
Students must also be able to perform manual handling tasks safely. Therefore, prospective students need to have the physical attributes to be able to:
- Bring themselves to floor level to perform the above task.
- Perform each of the above tasks uninterrupted for two minutes.
- Have the physical capacity to perform manual handling tasks safely.
What are the resources needed to complete the course?
To support you in your new course with Core Skills Training Services, we will provide the following:
- Equipment and supplies for training and assessment, including:
- adult and infant resuscitation manikins following ARC guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures
- AED training devices
- personal protective equipment (PPE)
Students are required to arrange their own access to following:
- A computer with an internet access with a reliable speed of at least 5mbps
- Google Chrome (recommended browser)
- MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel or equivalent applications
- Adobe Acrobat reader or equivalent applications

Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?
All learners must complete these units via the Learning and Assessment Pathway due to ARC guidelines. CPR certifications need to be renewed every year
